Dennis S. Farmer
Business Consultant

Dennis S. Farmer, the visionary CEO and Founder of Legacy Village, LLC, has a rich background rooted in his small-town upbringing in Shafter, California. He began his career with the State of California at age 24, quickly advancing to become Head of Accounting at Kern Valley State Prison, where he managed budgets and coordinated fiscal policies. Despite his professional success, Dennis struggled with alcohol addiction, which took a toll on his personal life, leading to two failed marriages and significant health challenges. His path to recovery included three rehab attempts, with the third marking his commitment to long-term recovery, and a reconnection with his faith.
Inspired by his own experiences, Dennis founded Legacy Village to offer accessible, affordable care for those battling addiction. The organization became known for its individualized recovery services, particularly for veterans, and thrived until 2023 when changes in federal policy significantly impacted its operations, leading to the facility’s closure after nine years of service. Dennis continued his advocacy for veterans, speaking out against the changes in addiction treatment access and working with policymakers to highlight the dangers these shifts posed to veterans’ health.
Undeterred by these challenges, Dennis took on a new role as CEO of Recovery 101, dedicated to eradicating the stigma around addiction treatment and promoting mental health. He published his first book Ironing Money, in 2023. He remains an advocate for veterans and is involved in the establishment of new clinics for mental and behavioral health, set to open in 2024. Additionally, Dennis has launched the Recovery 101 podcast and is working on his second book to help others on their wellness journeys. His life story is one of resilience, redemption, and a deep commitment to serving others.
